Daniel Duval Pre-Interview on Soar 4 Your Encore (Adrienna Turner Show)

Daniel Duval latest book is Wounded by Leadership The book is about going from forgiveness to glory. How to overcome the wounds many have taken from authority church figures. His ministry is BRIDE Ministries.
The publisher is Creation House.

Adrienna Turner (from Adrienna Turner Show): "Tell us what are you soaring for?"
Daniel Duval: "My vision is to promote unity in the body of Christ worldwide and assist in the creation and development of sheep nations. This is what I am soaring for."
AT: "Share one of your dreams and how are you putting forth effort to make it a reality."
DD: "One of my dreams is to help thousands of people overcome the wounds that they have suffered from in the church. I have written Wounded by Leadership to achieve this dream, and with the right promotion, this book will allow me to achieve this goal. The healing that this book brings will allow for greater unity within the body of Christ, thereby fitting in with my overall vision."
AT: "Tell us 4 things that people would love to know about you (we don’t already know)."
DD: "I am half Puerto Rican and half Haitian. I don’t have a favorite color. I look particularly good in pink and even though I love football, I rarely watch it in favor of spending time with my wife."
AT: "Name your future plans and how you’re building on that dream."
DD: "My future plans are to continue to introduce healing and unity into the body of Christ. I plan to build upon the platform God has given me by continuing to write books and speak on the topics that he has called me to address. Once God grants me enough influence and resources, I plan to work towards the creation and development of sheep nations. I define sheep nations as entire geographies where the kingdom of God will reign in the hearts of men."
AT: "Who are you bringing on the dream journey with you, if any?"
DD: "I’m bringing my wife (haha!) and as many as God pulls alongside of me. I’m also bringing the Holy Spirit, because wherever I go, He is with me."
AT: "Who are you modeling after? Who inspires you?"
DD: "In my case, I am essentially setting out to do things that have never been done before. Once I get beyond the basics of writing books and speaking, many of the projects I want to undertake are going to have to be built from the ground up. I like to look at what Moses did. He led a nation out of captivity, receiving instructions on how to do it from God (from beginning to end). The forming documents of the nation (the Ten Commandments) were dictated to him, and he had no choice but to rely on the power of God in order to fulfill his mission. I see parallels between what God asked of him and what I feel God asking of me."
AT: As an author, please share in brief your writing process (e.g. time of hour you write, best time of the day or night, setbacks or disappointments, and obstacles to undergo as an author)."
DD: "I do most of my writing during the daytime. I used to be a night owl but now that I’ve been married for several years, I don’t do much work past 9 p.m. It helps that I don’t have children yet. I usually try to do my writing under the anointing. Sometimes I will write simply because I know I have to, but I don’t particularly like writing if I don’t feel the inspiration of the Spirit of God. When I face obstacles like writer’s block, I will either force myself to write anyway (if I need to) or just leave it alone and work on something else. I have found that if I have to write and it’s not coming fluidly, God will begin to help me only after I’ve resolved to write whether I feel like it or not."
AT: "As an author, what advice would you give to your readers and/or other authors?"
DD: "God may call us to do something, but just because we are obedient to do it doesn’t mean we are doing it right. Excellence is something that eludes Christians at times. God may call us to do something, and we do well if we are obedient, but we shouldn’t stop there. As the people of God, excellence should be our trademark. We should make everything that God calls us to create as excellent as possible, going beyond simple obedience. This is the difference between someone that God will use to shake a village and someone that God will use to shake a nation. If we refuse to allow God to make us world class, we will limit His capacity to use us for great things. My advice is to never settle."
AT: For ministries, what is your God-given vision? How to you hold on your vision and keep it alive for others to witness?"
DD: "My vision is the promote unity in the body of Christ worldwide and assist in the creation and development of sheep nations. This vision goes on everything I produce. I read it, speak it, and see it constantly, always keeping in before my face. My vision and I are inseparable."
AT: "For the individual: Are you living out your vision or dream?"
DD: "Yes."
AT: "Or the vision someone has planned for you, or expected you to do?"
DD:"No."
AT: "Do you work hard to please others, or please yourself?"
DD: "I work hard to please God, which leads to self-fulfillment. When I do what God has called me to do well, others are pleased."
AT: "What does your future hold?"
DD: "Great things, my vision once fulfilled has the power to change the way the world works."
AT: "Are you carrying the vision, or did an experience awaken the dream inside of you, or someone else has birthed it into you?"
DD: "The vision was given to me through a long process initially involving dreams and visions but ultimately involving my ever deepening understanding of the mysteries of God’s Word and the subjects of eschatology and the kingdom of God."
AT: "What happens when you have roadblocks in front of your vision such as finances, strongholds, circumstances beyond your control, unemployment, homeless, etc.?"
DD: "I walk by faith and not by sight. I learned a while ago that my resources are not determined by what I tangibly have, and I do not live like they are."
AT: "Do you have a support group or someone you can turn to?"
DD: "Yes, I have a prayer team, a mentor, and close friends that know what I am setting out to do".

K.P. Smith Pre-Interview: Soar 4 Your Encore! May 19, 2012 LIVE Interview

Interview by Adrienna Turner, Author of “The Day Begins with Christ”

Author K.P. Smith latest novel is "Growing Pains: Kendra’s Diaries." I would like to introduce you to Kendra Foster. She’s smack in the middle of growing up. Teenagers! She has problems at home and with her family. She thought making cheerleader would solve all of her problems, well maybe some of them, but it caused a major one she didn’t see coming. High school is quickly approaching and her dreams of attending The Academy seems more impossible with each passing day. Every time she thinks she has the answers; they change the question. But never count her out. Her story is one of determination, perseverance and strength. It is a coming of age story that will make you laugh, you might even cry; one thing for sure you will be inspired. Publisher: Doin It Publishing.

Adrienna Turner (from the Adrienna Turner Show): What are you soaring for?

K.P. Smith: Peace, happiness, health and everything life has to offer. Yes I have a bucket list and a never ending to-do-list. But I have learned those things are a just a blueprint. Each day we wake up is filled with new possibilities and adventures. Life is like a stream of water; we have to go with the flow. When I put my head on my pillow at the end of each day no matter what has transpired, I know I gave it my best and I look forward to doing it again!

AT: Share one of your dreams and how are you putting forth effort to make it a reality.

K.P. Smith: I always wanted to write a book so I did. While writing the book I decided to write a series. The series is titled "Growing Pains" and it is geared to the young adult audience. The first book: "Growing Pains: Kendra’s Diaries" has been out since June 2011. I am currently working on the second book tentatively titled "Growing Pains: New Beginnings." The series is designed to encourage, motivate and inspire the youth through the “maze” of growing up. I had a lot of help through this process but I did most of the work on my own. The process was and continues to be a lot of trial and error. I published my book through my own publishing company Doin It Publishing. But I incorporated to publish only my own books. Now the more I get out and talk about the book, I meet so many people saying they want to write a book or have started but don’t know what to do next. So, I decided to open my doors. Doin It Publishing is there to help. We welcome all authors but cater to new authors. We give them a helping hand and the guidance needed to make their own dreams come true.

AT: Tell us 4 things that people would love to know about you (we don’t already know).

K.P. Smith: 1) I am a mom of two sons. 2) I am an insurance adjuster by day. 3) I love sports, reading, and dancing. 4) I turned 40 last year and feel like I am coming into my own.

AT: Name your future plans and how you’re building on that dream.

K.P. Smith: Right now, I am focusing on building my publishing company, completing the Growing Pains Series and going around the country talking to the youth. I would also love to write for television and if the path opens up also for screenwriting for movies!

AT: Who are you bringing on the dream journey with you, if any?

K.P. Smith: My family and my entrusted friends that know me and support me.

AT: Who are you modeling after? Who inspires you?

K.P. Smith: The list would be endless but if I have to choose; Oprah, Tyler Perry, Bill Gates and the late Steve Jobs. I love innovators and people who are always thinking “ahead of the times.”

AT: For authors, what advice would you give to your readers and/or other authors?

K.P. Smith: For my readers life is not a sprint. It is a marathon. It is not the destination but the joy, happiness, and fulfillment is all in the journey. Always remember to stay positive, keep it moving and never give up!! For authors, there are two key points that I have learned along the way. First of all, even if you are writing the best book ever written, it will only become a best-seller if people are buying it. That is why when you decide to write a book, while you are writing it and every day thereafter; you have to focus on marketing! Marketing!! Which brings me to my second point, everyone has the “answer” on how to be a successful author. Although I believe it is very important to know as much as you can about the industry and trends. It is even more important to realize just because something works for someone else does not necessarily mean it will work for you. There is that blueprint thing again. Read and learn everything you can and then keep trying and trying until you find out what works best for you.

Astria Legends: Genesis by Amanda Reaves

Astria Legends GenesisAstria Legends Genesis by Amanda S. Reaves

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Title: Astria Legends: Genesis (Book 1)

Author: Amanda S. Reaves

Publisher: Infinity

Release date (or anticipated release): 8/13/2010

ISBN: 978-0-7414-6039-4

ASIN (if applicable):

Ebook ISBN:

Specs: 255 pages

Website (optional): astrialegends.com

Category: Fantasy YA

Review Summary:

The novel opens the reader into a mystical, fairytale like characters that all play a role in the magical land of Zanali, includes seven planets as a whole governed by the creator Exalted One who assigns Serendas to keep watch over the planets. Although this book is a mystical, fantasy related read for Young Adults, I quickly found myself captured into the characters in relation to biblical characters such as the Watchers in Genesis 6 in comparison to the Serendas. Zavis also resembled the fallen angels, who refused to follow the Exalted Ones orders and were separated from the Serendas (who initially kept watch of all seven planets until the Exalted One removed them from this assignment order). Serendas are broken into 4 groups: Creation, Vitalize, Flare, and Death. Spectrums were non-sociable, hermit, and loners to keep the peace within the magical lands. Astrians (Angels) were the first created creatures by the Exalted One. Astria Legends is where legends are born with an inspirational twist, and dreams explode in the Astria Galaxy.

Oddly, as the chapters revealed more about the plans of the other lands and its creation, especially reading about the colorful spectrums, reminded me of 80s cartoons: Rainbow Brite and Care Bears. There are 8 Spectrums who protect the colorful layers of the spectrum and also questioning their roles/abilities given by the Creator. Overall, there are numerous characters to gather in the reading, and see how the story unfolds dealing with a powerful force, Sin, head on. Sin comes in various forms but to witness it in its purest form was unheard of (page 46).

Overall the novel spun into a whirlwind of beings of both good and evil, unleashing these spirits that spurted from their inner thoughts or feelings such a envy, guilt, and pride to name a few, and colorful characters that makes the reader’s mind burst into a mystical imagination.

Dream Moment(s): “decisions have lasting effects” (page 20). I was captured by the mythological stem of the storyline where Ambrose goes to speak with the Sire, and to find the 6-6-6 beast that will break the planet wide open with chaos, destruction, and death whereas many will follow this mythological beast. Would this young Ambrose, a Zavi militant warrior, be able to find this myth while Sire steps into his position with the Council? Another thing that gathered my undivided attention in the book, each time a character or pivotal being has a negative emotion or discord, it counteracts and forms into a new being and spits the words out of its mouth. This also changes the atmosphere of the Spectrums, colors grow dim. Just like when we let Sin in our lives, our passion and love grows dim. I loved most of the quotes starting each chapter with the artwork below. “It’s not always what you see that will hurt you the most. It is what you fail to see. And that doesn’t mean with your eyes” (page 126).

Nightmare(s): In the early chapter, I found the dialogue of the characters to be monotone, stoic, and hard to distinguish at times where I had to re-read briefly. Descriptive in narration in the first chapter but some of the writings kept me reading and to see what will transcend. (I ran across a few minor typographical errors and wrong word usage but was able to figure it out and continue to read).

Dream 4 More (Keep us Dreaming or Begging for more): In the early chapter, I’m hoping to see what takes place after reading about Serenda to follow in accordance to the Book of Essentia not to create life to make the Book of Mire a reality. Amanda S. Reaves interweaves fantasy and characters from biblical figures, lovely artwork (like graphic novels where she displayed her artwork per chapter), and would encourage the author to consider incorporating a graphic novel. Reaves has also ventured with action-like figurines featured on Astria Legends LIKE Facebook page, a website to showcase these characters including profiles, and possibly starting an animated series virtually. This makes the reader dream for more and more to look forward to with these mystical characters. Moreover, I cannot wait to see book 2 in the series (Exodus).

Dream 4 More Reviews has received Astria Legends: Genesis by the author for a book review.

Samara King Pre-Interview Questions

Dream 4 More Pre-Interview Questions to get to know Samara King:
1. What inspired you to write this book?
After reading an article online about several prisoners who were being released after serving years in prison for crimes they didn’t commit, I begin to wonder how one would regain their life and love.
2. Share one of your dreams and how are you putting forth effort to make it a reality.
One of my dreams is to pursue my own business in the literary world. I’m currently doing that with the creation of the SK MINIs novella imprint of which Hot to the Touch is the premiere release and the establishment of Samara King Books. Touching people with my words is one of the legacies I want to leave behind one day and a daily goal as well.
3. Tell us 4 things that people would love to know about you (we don’t already know).
Hmmm, well. I love to dance.
My mother tells me I was born with red hair and that she named me after some character from a Western (not believing the later statement Mom.)
I love making characters real to the point I could carry conversation.
One of the greatest influences of my life was my maternal grandmother.
4. Name your future plans and how you’re building on that dream.
My future plans evolve around building more titles under Samara King Books, working on a script, seminars that will uplift women under the SK MINIs project as well as classes. I’ll also be offering writing workshops in liaison with Editor-Author Shonell Bacon under our joint venture, 2 Divas 2 Dimes.
5. Who are you bringing on the dream journey with you, if any?
My loved ones definitely. I do not think you can venture into a dream without some support from those closest to you in some respects.
6. Who are you modeling after or use as a living example to keep you accomplishing your writing talent?
There are many authors that I admire, but I really love tailoring my path to my own creativity. It ensures realness and truth.
7. Share in brief your writing process (e.g. time of hour you write, best time of the day or night, setbacks or disappointments, and obstacles to undergo as an author).
My writing practices vary from early morning writing sessions to evening time. It just depends on the project, the tone, the characters and the general flow of the story I’m trying to convey. There are times when I have to step away from the act of writing and in those times, I design, read, observe and learn. It’s all part of my writing process I think and it extends outside banging the keys of my laptop. Setbacks and disappointments are a part of life, in writing it is no different. Taking one day at a time and learning – sometimes ‘re-learning’ to enjoy the writing process is often needed.
8. What advice do you have for your readers and/or other authors? Nurturing your muse is a very important element in the writing journey. Switching what doesn’t work and trying alternate or various creative paths help a lot. It never hurts to shake up your creative process every now and then.

BTR Interview w/ Janese Dixon's book: Black Diamond

Black Diamond by Ja'Nese Dixon. Nia ePublishing. 2010. Dream4More Rating: Sweet Dreams. 4 stars.

Ja'Nese Dixon's debut book is a romantic suspense and even saw it to be as a legal thriller. Camille takes us on a wild-goose chase to unlock the secrets and illegal acts, even murder, when taking on the case on international diamond trading. Ja'Nese pace can be slow in the beginning to be connected to the characters, breath-taking in the middle to end of the book, but you definitely want to finish until the very last sentence on the page. She keeps you intrigued to the very last part of the story--which reminds me of a thriller seen on TV with a happy ending and glimpse of the terror in the midst. Will there be a sequel?

Moreover, I like the valid points discussed in the book such as 'male bashing'; sibling rivalry between Camille and her brother that can play an important role in her FBI training and running this case solo in a setting with primarily male co-workers; black woman portraying a significant role in the corporate world; and able to detach her feelings to complete the case...and to fall in love and have a family of her own.
