Review Summary:

Carmen Hill-Dougherty is seeking for change and when a male counterpart comes on the work scene, then her interests excelled as if she was on cloud nine but not normal for a married woman to be attracted to her co-worker. Kendall, senior sales manager, lacks both experience and education but made Carmen’s adrenaline flow and mental senses went downhill. She hired this Dominican sex bod, was it worth the fling to lose the wedding ring? She later suffers from a mental breakdown, panic attacks, and her emotional structure brings the reader in.

Tempest Perry thought her dreams were coming true once she met the rookie athlete Sterling Alexander later went professional NFL line-backer but not quite sure she got what her heart desired. She got critical to comforting feedback from her sisters and friend, Dana, after seeing his interview showcasing another woman as his Cinderella. She fights her thoughts and feelings to see if her fiancé truly loves her, or is she just another woman on the game field. Like most women, she reminiscences on her past high school insecurities and imperfections once she sees another beautiful woman on the scene that could steal her dream man from her future wedding plans.

Dana Dougherty, sister-in-law to Carmen and best friend to Tempest, seems to find love in Omar who definitely doesn’t feel the same about her. What does a rebound lover look like? When love has a new face, Matthew has the compatibility and stability but Dana discovers that both men are “momma boys.” Which man will she choose to share her life and happiness with?

All these ladies have one thing in common: failed relationships, where they were seeking for love without anything in return. These women choices make you question their actions and reactions especially when it comes to love, relationships with the opposite sex, and regrets that are hard to forget. Love & Regrets shares relationships where love is on the rocks, love on memory lane from dream to nightmare, and lover rebound just a play toy without any real commitment.

Dream Moment(s): Carmen has watched marriages fail from other family members, and so did hers but her grandparents marriage lasted 40 years. Her grandmother’s advice shook something inside of me, “Put more energy into staying married than you put into getting married, and don’t be a fool enough to think you’re the only woman in the running. There’s always someone waiting in the wings, ready to take your gold.” We cannot let someone win our race, and get in place, and trust our marriages will last with God in it!

Dream 4 More: Forgiveness is the key factor with a sincere heart as Tempest does with Sterling “she did it with her whole heart and soul (Matthew 6:14)” (page 296). Another important moral lesson exemplified in this reading was to “hold on to your dreams.” Sheryl Mallory-Johnson is a talented writer, gives balance of all the right elements to create the right formula for a splendid novel to read on relationships.

Daniel Duval Pre-Interview on Soar 4 Your Encore (Adrienna Turner Show)

Daniel Duval latest book is Wounded by Leadership The book is about going from forgiveness to glory. How to overcome the wounds many have taken from authority church figures. His ministry is BRIDE Ministries.
The publisher is Creation House.

Adrienna Turner (from Adrienna Turner Show): "Tell us what are you soaring for?"
Daniel Duval: "My vision is to promote unity in the body of Christ worldwide and assist in the creation and development of sheep nations. This is what I am soaring for."
AT: "Share one of your dreams and how are you putting forth effort to make it a reality."
DD: "One of my dreams is to help thousands of people overcome the wounds that they have suffered from in the church. I have written Wounded by Leadership to achieve this dream, and with the right promotion, this book will allow me to achieve this goal. The healing that this book brings will allow for greater unity within the body of Christ, thereby fitting in with my overall vision."
AT: "Tell us 4 things that people would love to know about you (we don’t already know)."
DD: "I am half Puerto Rican and half Haitian. I don’t have a favorite color. I look particularly good in pink and even though I love football, I rarely watch it in favor of spending time with my wife."
AT: "Name your future plans and how you’re building on that dream."
DD: "My future plans are to continue to introduce healing and unity into the body of Christ. I plan to build upon the platform God has given me by continuing to write books and speak on the topics that he has called me to address. Once God grants me enough influence and resources, I plan to work towards the creation and development of sheep nations. I define sheep nations as entire geographies where the kingdom of God will reign in the hearts of men."
AT: "Who are you bringing on the dream journey with you, if any?"
DD: "I’m bringing my wife (haha!) and as many as God pulls alongside of me. I’m also bringing the Holy Spirit, because wherever I go, He is with me."
AT: "Who are you modeling after? Who inspires you?"
DD: "In my case, I am essentially setting out to do things that have never been done before. Once I get beyond the basics of writing books and speaking, many of the projects I want to undertake are going to have to be built from the ground up. I like to look at what Moses did. He led a nation out of captivity, receiving instructions on how to do it from God (from beginning to end). The forming documents of the nation (the Ten Commandments) were dictated to him, and he had no choice but to rely on the power of God in order to fulfill his mission. I see parallels between what God asked of him and what I feel God asking of me."
AT: As an author, please share in brief your writing process (e.g. time of hour you write, best time of the day or night, setbacks or disappointments, and obstacles to undergo as an author)."
DD: "I do most of my writing during the daytime. I used to be a night owl but now that I’ve been married for several years, I don’t do much work past 9 p.m. It helps that I don’t have children yet. I usually try to do my writing under the anointing. Sometimes I will write simply because I know I have to, but I don’t particularly like writing if I don’t feel the inspiration of the Spirit of God. When I face obstacles like writer’s block, I will either force myself to write anyway (if I need to) or just leave it alone and work on something else. I have found that if I have to write and it’s not coming fluidly, God will begin to help me only after I’ve resolved to write whether I feel like it or not."
AT: "As an author, what advice would you give to your readers and/or other authors?"
DD: "God may call us to do something, but just because we are obedient to do it doesn’t mean we are doing it right. Excellence is something that eludes Christians at times. God may call us to do something, and we do well if we are obedient, but we shouldn’t stop there. As the people of God, excellence should be our trademark. We should make everything that God calls us to create as excellent as possible, going beyond simple obedience. This is the difference between someone that God will use to shake a village and someone that God will use to shake a nation. If we refuse to allow God to make us world class, we will limit His capacity to use us for great things. My advice is to never settle."
AT: For ministries, what is your God-given vision? How to you hold on your vision and keep it alive for others to witness?"
DD: "My vision is the promote unity in the body of Christ worldwide and assist in the creation and development of sheep nations. This vision goes on everything I produce. I read it, speak it, and see it constantly, always keeping in before my face. My vision and I are inseparable."
AT: "For the individual: Are you living out your vision or dream?"
DD: "Yes."
AT: "Or the vision someone has planned for you, or expected you to do?"
DD:"No."
AT: "Do you work hard to please others, or please yourself?"
DD: "I work hard to please God, which leads to self-fulfillment. When I do what God has called me to do well, others are pleased."
AT: "What does your future hold?"
DD: "Great things, my vision once fulfilled has the power to change the way the world works."
AT: "Are you carrying the vision, or did an experience awaken the dream inside of you, or someone else has birthed it into you?"
DD: "The vision was given to me through a long process initially involving dreams and visions but ultimately involving my ever deepening understanding of the mysteries of God’s Word and the subjects of eschatology and the kingdom of God."
AT: "What happens when you have roadblocks in front of your vision such as finances, strongholds, circumstances beyond your control, unemployment, homeless, etc.?"
DD: "I walk by faith and not by sight. I learned a while ago that my resources are not determined by what I tangibly have, and I do not live like they are."
AT: "Do you have a support group or someone you can turn to?"
DD: "Yes, I have a prayer team, a mentor, and close friends that know what I am setting out to do".

Review Summary:

No one seems to play the game fair and square. Parjoe calls the shots not only in a pool game but wants to start a major criminal enterprise with his crew. Griffith A. Jordan also known as Parjoe is the mastermind, college-bound with military experience brings on his men with muscle and bringing the heat: Blackman and Hot Rod, and his straight-up gangster, Wildman. In South Memphis, these men want to setup gambling houses, run whore houses, hustling drugs, and exporting hot cars to foreign countries. This operation is bigger than New Jack City, happening in a southern state like Memphis. Parjoe adds on a fifth man, Marcus Ducree who is a crooked banker to launder the dirty money and a sixth person, a woman, Laquette known to be the Queen B. Each guy starts with 50 grand on the table to start the business venture and network with other suppliers for the plan to surface. Parjoe has plans to not only do this locally but internationally.

Yet there are others lurking in the midst who do not want to see your come-up for various reasons and motives. This novel takes you for a run for your money with hot honeys.

Dream Moment(s): Through all the dirt and people getting hurt, there were some moral lessons taught in the novel such as greed even though your needs have been met but some ladies wanted more than what was offered on the table, never satisfied and willing to put their lives on the line for more; push someone only makes them push back; and lying, stealing, and cheating will eventually catch up to you. I enjoyed the girl talk between frenemies: Serena and Cutie Pie, was able to fess up and make things happen (page 240).

Nightmare(s): This is street literature to the fullest, just laced with profanity. However, the characters tone and vocalization fits this type of genre, especially guys from the streets in gangs, drug hustling, and illegal crimes.

Dream 4 More: High Rollers, Players & Angels is a fast-pace, gritty, and raw, even though there may be some similarities to other street lit books—it still stands in a place of its own and these characters/scenes are played in one’s mind like as if watching an urban movie. If you love Street Lit, this novel will surely entertain, give you the leverage you need, and see how it is done on multi-levels as the illegal enterprise unleashes its spew of greedy contenders.

Dream 4 More Reviews has received High Rollers, Players & Angels by the author for a book review.

K.P. Smith Pre-Interview: Soar 4 Your Encore! May 19, 2012 LIVE Interview

Interview by Adrienna Turner, Author of “The Day Begins with Christ”

Author K.P. Smith latest novel is "Growing Pains: Kendra’s Diaries." I would like to introduce you to Kendra Foster. She’s smack in the middle of growing up. Teenagers! She has problems at home and with her family. She thought making cheerleader would solve all of her problems, well maybe some of them, but it caused a major one she didn’t see coming. High school is quickly approaching and her dreams of attending The Academy seems more impossible with each passing day. Every time she thinks she has the answers; they change the question. But never count her out. Her story is one of determination, perseverance and strength. It is a coming of age story that will make you laugh, you might even cry; one thing for sure you will be inspired. Publisher: Doin It Publishing.

Adrienna Turner (from the Adrienna Turner Show): What are you soaring for?

K.P. Smith: Peace, happiness, health and everything life has to offer. Yes I have a bucket list and a never ending to-do-list. But I have learned those things are a just a blueprint. Each day we wake up is filled with new possibilities and adventures. Life is like a stream of water; we have to go with the flow. When I put my head on my pillow at the end of each day no matter what has transpired, I know I gave it my best and I look forward to doing it again!

AT: Share one of your dreams and how are you putting forth effort to make it a reality.

K.P. Smith: I always wanted to write a book so I did. While writing the book I decided to write a series. The series is titled "Growing Pains" and it is geared to the young adult audience. The first book: "Growing Pains: Kendra’s Diaries" has been out since June 2011. I am currently working on the second book tentatively titled "Growing Pains: New Beginnings." The series is designed to encourage, motivate and inspire the youth through the “maze” of growing up. I had a lot of help through this process but I did most of the work on my own. The process was and continues to be a lot of trial and error. I published my book through my own publishing company Doin It Publishing. But I incorporated to publish only my own books. Now the more I get out and talk about the book, I meet so many people saying they want to write a book or have started but don’t know what to do next. So, I decided to open my doors. Doin It Publishing is there to help. We welcome all authors but cater to new authors. We give them a helping hand and the guidance needed to make their own dreams come true.

AT: Tell us 4 things that people would love to know about you (we don’t already know).

K.P. Smith: 1) I am a mom of two sons. 2) I am an insurance adjuster by day. 3) I love sports, reading, and dancing. 4) I turned 40 last year and feel like I am coming into my own.

AT: Name your future plans and how you’re building on that dream.

K.P. Smith: Right now, I am focusing on building my publishing company, completing the Growing Pains Series and going around the country talking to the youth. I would also love to write for television and if the path opens up also for screenwriting for movies!

AT: Who are you bringing on the dream journey with you, if any?

K.P. Smith: My family and my entrusted friends that know me and support me.

AT: Who are you modeling after? Who inspires you?

K.P. Smith: The list would be endless but if I have to choose; Oprah, Tyler Perry, Bill Gates and the late Steve Jobs. I love innovators and people who are always thinking “ahead of the times.”

AT: For authors, what advice would you give to your readers and/or other authors?

K.P. Smith: For my readers life is not a sprint. It is a marathon. It is not the destination but the joy, happiness, and fulfillment is all in the journey. Always remember to stay positive, keep it moving and never give up!! For authors, there are two key points that I have learned along the way. First of all, even if you are writing the best book ever written, it will only become a best-seller if people are buying it. That is why when you decide to write a book, while you are writing it and every day thereafter; you have to focus on marketing! Marketing!! Which brings me to my second point, everyone has the “answer” on how to be a successful author. Although I believe it is very important to know as much as you can about the industry and trends. It is even more important to realize just because something works for someone else does not necessarily mean it will work for you. There is that blueprint thing again. Read and learn everything you can and then keep trying and trying until you find out what works best for you.
